Smile for the camera

Well I finally got Izzy to smile big for the camera! She has been smiling for awhile now just not for the camera. She is doing pretty well, she is up to 12lbs 15 oz! No wonder she feels heavy! Still not sleeping through the night, about 5 hours is about as long as she goes at a stretch. If we are lucky and she eats between 10 and 11 she will only wake up once about 3.

Well gotta go, we are battling each other trying to go down for a nap.

1st Business Trip

Well, I am leaving on my first business trip today. Just for one night. The company I used to work for is changing all of their systems, so if I don't learn how to use them, I won't be able to do any work for them even when and if i decide i would like to start consulting again.

So i fly out tonight and come home early evening tomorrow. My mother in law is going to watch Izzy tomorrow. I think Daddy is a little nervous about being on his own from 3:00 on but he will do fine! He has done it before!

Then in early may i have the rest of the training which is 2 days , so it will be 2 nights.

It will be so weird to be back at my old company, so much has changed for me since I was last there in November I think.

I am feeling torn because I was asked yesterday to do some work remotely for them and at first I thought, yes thta will be good, extra money and it is pretty flexible work.......but then the other part of me, says....do i really want to spend my spring/summer having to worry about getting work done and taking care of Izzy, this is one of the few times in my life where it is okay that I don't work outside the home............I don't know what to do.

The money would be GREAT and we sure could use teh extra cash when paying off the adoption loan....i don't know. I guess I will go this week and then see how i feel about it.

I am really looking forward to seeing some of my friends while I am there though! I miss them all so much, i lived there for 5 years and then consulted with the company for over a year after I quit. Everyone can't wait to meet Izzy. Later this spring or early summer DH and I will take a trip over there to visit so everyone can meet her.

I will be taking my video ipod with me which has a ton of pictures of Izzy on it so I can show them off.....(and have them close when I miss her :) )

Wish me luck!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! And Happy Passover!I hope everyone had a wonderful week! We had a pretty good week, it started a little rough, but ended well for the most part.

Early this week we went to my aunt and uncles for Izzy's first sedar...well lets just say she is not ready to be out of hte house during her colicky time between about 6 and 8. It was lets just say a disaster...she pretty much screamed the whole time.......but oh well, I warned them.

Then on Tuesday I finally called the doctor because she had just not been eating well for a couple weeks, writhing all around and most bottles only eat 2-2.5 ounces when she can eat 4 , so the doctor prescribed Zantac for reflux, even though she doesn't spit up excessively I guess it can still bother her and one of the signs is she arches her back. So we started the medicine on Tuesday afternoon. Well she HATES the taste of it so getting her to take it is quite tricky. We finally figured out this weekend it works best when mixed with 1 oz of formula. But even though she wasn't getting it all, it seem to make a huge difference! Now it could be coincedence, but Thurs thru Sunday morning were her best days yet, FINALLY smilling a lot more and talking more, and eating SOO much better!

For easter we went to church with DH's family and the back to my mother in laws for brunch. Izzy was very good at Church, she ate just before the service and then pretty much slept. She was also pretty good and Grandma and Grandpa, the only problem was she didn't sleep much with all the excitement...which turned out to make a very unhappy girl last night...but what can you do. We learned our lessons, she can miss one nap but 2, just can't happen and she just does not sleep good away from home...she likes her swing during the day.

The easter grandma/grandpa bunny was very good to her. She got a great swing for outside when she gets a little bigger and she got a tummy time mat. She also got some new dresses.

I can't believe it is April, time is just flying by! Now if only the weather would catch back up!!!!

New Design

I decided to change up my blog layout, i was growing tired of the the dots.

Well we hit a milestone (well okay so it isn't the biggest of deals but anyway) we moved DD out of our room!!!! We moved her upstairs to her room. We decided it was time, and so far I think she likes it. She isn't sleeping through the night or anything wonderful like that, but at least I don' t hear every breathe she takes! I need to get some new pics taken of her room and I will post them.

We are still fighting the colic a bit in teh evenings, I am ready for that to fade away anyday now but we probably have another month or so, based on what people tell me.

We went to the Red Wings game last night and left her with DH's sister, and that went pretty well. She didn't scream the whole time. I tell you though she was pretty sad when we left, it did pull at my heart a little, she had such a frown on her face!

I don't know why some people never leave their kids with anyone....DH and I need to get out, it makes us better parents and have more patience I think. We love our peanut but sometimes you just need to get away.

The weather has been nicer the last 2 weeks so we have been going for walks which makes such a difference in my attitude! I am so much happier when I can get outside with her. I also took her out a little this week, took her to see her daddy at work, and to target and to see grandpa at work. She definately sleeps better during the day when she is home, but I will go crazy if I can never get out!

I also worked one day this week and took her to my moms and that worked out pretty good too. I am glad I will have the one day for 4 hours or so to get out in teh adult world without her. Plus it gives her good "nana" time!

All in all, life is good! Sure I am more tired then I have ever been in my life, and sure just when I think I have her figured out, she changes the rules, but that is what mommyhood is all about I guess!

We have our first postplacement visit with our social worker in a couple weeks. She can't wait to meet the peanut! Luckily she is coming in the morning, so that is when DD is the most happy.

Well Daddy and peanut are sleeping on the couch together. Maybe I will go join them!

Here is a picture I took last Monday I think.

Just Amazing

Well I felt the need to make a little post. Since hearing of katd GREAT news it totally made me reflect on what we just went through in the last 2 months and how incredible God is and how life works out! As I read Katd posts, it totally brought me back to how things happened for us.

I can't believe DD is 2 months old already! What a whirlwind, I feel like Feb and March didn't even really exsist, especially February! My life changed in an instant and I couldn't be happier about it. Sure it has been probably the most stressful and most exhausting time in my life, but it has also been the most incredible. I am a parent!!!!! I have a beautiful daughter! WOW! Part of me still can't believe it!

Being a parent is the hardest and best thing I have ever done. The infant stage is very challenging, sleep deprivation is the worst! Plus DD has a little colic in the evenings which wears on you incredibly.......but look at my beautiful daughter! I am so looking forward to her growing and changing and being more interactive.

The weather is finally starting to get nice here, and it makes such a difference to have the sun shinning and to be able to go out for a walk!

Katd I know you will read this at some point and I just want you to know how happy and excited for you I am. You are about to endure the greatest and most challenging adventure of your life! I can't wait to keep reading all about it.

Here is a picture of DD from Saturday getting ready to go for a walk. She had her 2 mo shots on Friday so that made her quite tired and little cranky for a few days but I think we are getting better today.

I survived!

Well I survived DH's business trip where he was gone for 2 nights. DD and I did great!...plus I had a little help during the day from her grandmas. I was so happy to see DH yesterday, taking care of a baby all by yourself, especially when she gets up ever 4 hours at night is tough! But we did it.

DD is getting so big. She is over 11lbs now and finally healthy, she had a cold for a while which was not fun. She goes in next Friday for her 2 month appointment! I can't believe it. She is giving us a few smiles but not a lot yet so hopefully in the next couple of days she will really start smiling.

Well that is it , I just wanted to give a quick post. Happy St Patty's Day everyone! DH's mom is coming this afternoon and we are going out with friends for a bit so I am really excited!

Here is a picture I took last Saturday, it is by far my favorite so far!

Exhausted!

When they say babies don't come with an instruction manual man are they right! Now don't get me wrong I am not complaining and even though I am exhausted I wouldn't have it any other way.

It appears DD has established a fussy time along with maybe a reaction to the milk based formula. I had a great day with her yesterday at home, she ate pretty well, slept great and wasn't cranky...then at about 5:30 it was as though you flipped a switch and she was a different kid. So fussy and spit up everything she ate, would take a few sips and then wail! She has been spitting up more lately so I had called the doc last week and they said if it persisted for a week then switch to soy formula. Well it has been less then a week but I don't want a repeat of last night.........so DH went and bought the soy formula this morning and she had her best bottle since yesterday afternoon. She still spit up a little but not as much adn did not cry in agony during the whole bottle. It says on teh container for the formula it is proven to reduce fussiness and gasiness within 3 days....lets hope it takes a little less then that.

So since DH and I got so little sleep last night, i broke down and called for reinforcements :), my mom is going to come over later this morning and help me out so I can take a nap. I felt so bad for DD last night she seemed so very uncomfortable and we couldnt seem to make her happy. In addition to the formula problems she is also really stuffed up, which she has been for a couple weeks and it will come and go, I am also wondering if that is related to the milk because in one of my books it says a milk reaction could cause stuffiness. We will see how the Soy goes the next few days.

Just when you think you have the little bundles figured out, NOPE. Oh well, this too shall pass and it is all worth it. She is going to be 6 weeks tomorrow already! So depending on who you talk to she could start sleeping through the night or at least longer any time now but what I really can't wait for is her first REAL smile! Hopefully this week or next week we will get to see it! I could really use a toothless, gummy smile today :)
