2 year check up

I took Izzy in for her two year check up this morning and we got nothing but glowing reviews! Izzy weighed 27lbs (56%) and is 35.28 inches (84%). The doctor was very pleased with all her milestones. She even said that color recognition is a milestone for 3yrs old so that was pretty cool!

I asked about how much milk she should be getting and she said 16 oz a day with a minimum of 8oz and said that if izzy isn't drinking enough to give her some calcium fortified OJ if needed. Izzy likes milk she just doesn't drink a ton of it during the day. She also said that I was correct to switch to 2% milk. I switched her the week before her b-day.

I asked about tips to take away the binky and she said probably best to just remove it and it iwll be about a week of her giving us trouble. I am not looking forward to this but I know it needs to be done. SHe only gets her binky in her bed but she is pretty attached to it. I think I am going to wait until after we get back from vacation at the end of Febuary to take it away....I figure vacation is going to be hard enough, why make it harder and take away the binky.

I also asked about toddler bed transitions and she said as long as she is not climbing out it is okay to leave her int eh crib especially since she is upstairs by herself since we have a first floor master. I was planning on doing this anyway but was happy that she agreed.

I also asked about potty training and she said that Izzy will start to tell me when she is ready and for now to just be laid back about it, introduce her to it as much as possible. Which is what I have been doing so I need to just keep at it.

She got one shot , the Hep A vaccine and Izzy did not even cry! She flinched a little but didn't shed a tear!

I am very excited that she is on track and doing so well. We are very lucky!

We are waiting to get rid of Josie's paci until after vacation too.
My friend started cutting the ends of it off and her daughter just quit asking for it since it didn't give any suction.

Now I'm excited for Josie's 2 year appointment!

Glad to hear that she got a great check-up report:) I agree with the other bloggers comment- cut the end of the paci off - it works!!!! We did this with our daughter and she walked around with it and occasionally would stick it in her mouth and then take it out and look at it like what is wrong?! Good luck:)

Yeah for Izzy! Did you switch her "cold turkey" to 2%, or did you mix whole and 2% at the same time. I'm worried about this transition since T is so tiny as it is, but from what I've read, she should be getting healthier fat from other sources and not milk. So I will be doing that once we get back from Michigan.

I did switch her cold turkey and she never missed a beat. She didn't seem to notice or care.
