okay you moms out there that read my blog I need help!!!!
I am trying to figure out how and if I shoudl break izzy of her binky.....i am kinda kicking myself for not doing it when she was more of a "baby" and less logical than she is now. When we went to the peditrician they said to just take it away cold turkey....which is what I had been planning but now that i am getting ready to do it I have cold feet.
Izzy only gets her binky in bed, she never has it outside her crib. There is a part of me that thinks...what is it hurting to let her keep it...but the other part of me that can hear her sucking on the thing so loud over the monitor thinks that it probably isn't good for her teeth..........
So how do I do it? I have been trying a tricky way to ease her into it but she looks at me with a very worried skeptical look when I do it. I have been telling her that she needs to leave her binky's for the easter bunny to give to teh babies and the easter bunny will leave her stickers and candy in return...she is excited about teh candy/stickers but you can tell she is very worried about being without her beloved binkys.....
So do i continue on this path and just take them away (or have her put them away for the easter bunny ) and hope for the best or do I just skip the easter bunny and take them away...
I have also heard mom's say they cut them...do I do that?
I am so not looking forward to the few nights it is going to take for her to get used to her binky free lifestyle.....any tips or past experiences would be VERY appreciated!!!

With my daughter, her binky got a "weak" spot in it and I ended up cutting it to show her it was broken (and she wouldn't take a different one!). She tried it out, took it out of her mouth and looked at it like what is wrong?! She carried that one around for a while and did okay from then on. Now my son is 19 months and I am needing to take his away and i am dreading it! He is very attached to it, but he ONLY gets it at nap and bedtime right now but we need to get him off of it completely. Wish you the best of luck! Thinking of you:)
Wish I could help here, but T never took a pacifier. I love the idea about giving it to the Easter Bunny. I think I saw an episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 and they gave theirs to Santa or something similiar. Good luck!
We have not taken the "sassy" (that is what Isabelle call hers, why I am not sure) but I have had friends who have and hear is what they did. Several did cold turkey which is always an option my I hate to do that to her. 2 of my friends cut the paci's and one after a wek or so they took a trip to build a bear and Savannah got to put all her cut paci's inside her rabbit she stuffed and took home. My other friend took the cutting idea and stopped there. Rachel had a couple of rough nights and just did not want them cut but she stuck to it and since she did not like them cut it was just to bad and then as she saw she was not messing with them she got rid of them. I hope that helps! Here is the link to the friend who cut and they did build a bear Savannah was a bit older than Rachel when the paci was taken away! http://sunshinesavannahleigh.blogspot.com/2008/06/hardest-thing.html

Those are a few specific posts about it on her blog. Good luck I am sure I will be asking for advice if this worked for you all or not or what you decided to do around Aug. Sept. maybe!!!!
We really worked Annalise up to it...for like a week we told her that big girls don;t have binky's and we should probably get rid of them. After about 5-6 days of this she was in complete agreement with us (even though she had NO clue what she was doing) LOL! On day 7 we woke up, My husband and I took a tupperware jar and made Annalise collect all of her binky's (we even laid some around so she could 'find' them). After they were all collected we told her it was time to throw them away. And SHE DID! She walked right over to the garbage and dumped them. Now that night, she asked for her binky, I said, "Honey, remember we throw them away"...She was like, "Oh" :( She was probably kicking herself, but that was it...no more binky's. Now it was hard for her to soothe herself for a little while, but after about 5-6 days, it was like they never existed!
Hope I helped! Good Luck!
Have you done it yet?!?!
Josie still gets hers in her bed and I think we are about ready to go ahead and get rid of it.
